Lleida.net secures second patent in Brazil
Madrid, 30 March 2026 – The Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) has granted Lleida.net (BME: LLN) (EPA: ALLLN) a new patent for its method of registering and certifying the receipt of emails.
Filed under number BR112015008215-7, the patent covers a system that enables a telecommunications operator to certify the sending, content, and delivery of an email without altering the original message. The technology delivers an unmodified copy to the recipient while recording full traceability data, including server routing and attachments, and generates a digitally signed, time-stamped certificate issued by the operator.
The patented method ensures that email content remains intact and can be used as legally admissible evidence, a requirement increasingly standard across civil litigation frameworks in multiple jurisdictions. Its relevance is growing as digital signatures become a critical safeguard against AI-driven fraud in electronic communications.
The company recently obtained a similar patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its eIDAS notification method, its ninth in the country. The Brazilian grant extends equivalent protection to the Latin American market, giving Lleida.net exclusive rights to the method in Brazil for 20 years.
This latest milestone strengthens the company’s footprint in a region where it already operates offices in Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and Peru.
“Brazil is the gateway to Latin America for registered communications. With more than 210 million people and an economy accelerating its digital transformation, protecting our technology here is not just a legal matter, but a business priority,” said Sisco Sapena, CEO and founder of Lleida.net.
Brazil is home to over 210 million people and ranks as the world’s eighth-largest economy. The country has around 36 million active companies and processes millions of legal proceedings each year, where certified digital communications can serve as admissible evidence.
Founded in 1995, Lleida.net is one of Europe’s leading providers of certified notifications, electronic contracting, and digital signature solutions. The company holds more than 300 patents across over 60 countries, covering registered communications, e-contracting and digital signature technologies. Its shares are listed on BME Growth in Madrid, where it has been traded for ten years, as well as on Euronext Paris and the Stuttgart and Frankfurt stock exchanges.
